I feel those who have never known film or have had the chance to print their images on silver gelatin paper, are missing out on the basic fundamentals of photography - on the other hand, if you’ve never done this, you’re not tainted by the former. Only one girl’s opinion.

I have to admit, I miss the darkroom as there was something mysterious about it. I feel those who have never known film or have had the chance to print their images on silver gelatin paper, are missing out on the basic fundamentals of photography - on the other hand, if you’ve never done this, you’re not tainted by the former. Only one girl’s opinion.

Almost all of my current digital photographs are based upon emulating real film on fiber paper or alternative process prints dating back to the advent of photography. I’m stuck in a time warp and why do so many filmies keep saying this like it’s a bad thing.

My digital photography is straightforward, and imperfect. If I want to add texture to my digital images, I use another digital photo, say one of a tree trunk which I used over “Captain Dan”. All in all, I strive for a look that is not digitally overworked. I am my own worst critic; I still weed out the junk, keep the really good ones and try and create a print that will stand the test of time not merely a trend.
